Still to come and still you end at 323 all out in an ODI cricket match. This is
only possible when you are up against world no. 1 team Australia. More India loose
that match than Aussies won it. It was one of those matches where India saw defoliation
as they lost their last 9 wickets for mere 46 runs.
It all
started at Canberra with kangaroos winning the toss and deciding to bat first. Aussies
openers were right on money by adding 187 in less than 30 overs for the first
wicket. Aaron finch (107)was the top scorer for Aussies Rest of the work was by completed by quick
fire innings of Smith and Maxwell which took Australians to a total of 348 in
50 overs. Ishant Sharma was the most successful and expensive bowlers with figures
of 77/4.
Chasing a
mammoth total of 349 against world number one team at their home, India started
very well by notching up 80 runs in first powerplay with a loss of very
aggressive looking in-form Rohit Shrama. India’s no. 2&3, Dhawan and Kohli respectively, then took the charge against World Champion and played strokes all around the
ground. It seemed like a cake walk for India at a time and they
would win the match with some balls to spare but Australian bowlers had second thought
in their mind. With some exception bowling effort they made Kangaroos had the
last laugh. They continued their winning streak of 18 matches at home and took
lead of 4-0 in the series by beating world no. 2 team by 23 runs.
Aussie seamer
Kane Richardson was the hero of the match and deservedly given MOM for his
outstanding 5 wicket haul. Now the last thing Indian cricket fans would be
wanting to not to be white washed on saturday at Sydney.
